A TEAM of up to 120 volunteers are needed for a major project in this area as part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad.
Wisbech Archaeological Society is looking to carry out a series of around 30 or 40 digs in and around the town on Sunday March 11 as part of On Languard Point - a project about ‘Home’ supported by the Arts Council England.
It is hoped people will volunteer to have test pits dug in their gardens on the day to see what if anything can be unearthed as part of the ‘Dig and Sow’ initiative, which will be a mass region-wide archaeological excavation, in search of traces and even fragments of home.
Christine Green from the society explained the aim would be to have up to 40 of these test sites on the go during the day and there will need to be at least three or four volunteers to carry out each of those digs.
