‘Treasure trove’ verdicts
TWENTY gold coins stolen more than 100 years ago and found by a metal detector near Walsoken have been pronounced as treasure trove after a Lynn News appeal failed to unearth information about who owned them.
Norfolk Coroner William Armstrong also pronounced two other treasure verdicts at inquests at Lynn County Court.
The first concerned a late Anglo Saxon gold finger ring found by a metal detecting enthusiast at Narford on May 22.
The second was a 6th or 7th century gold coin with a fragment of another coin stuck to it found near Swaffham on March 11.
