A TREASURE hunter has found a highly valuable ancient gold ring almost three decades after finding a massive hoard of coins in the same place.
George McKean, 59, was using a highly sensitive metal detector on the Duke of Westminster’s estate in Huntington when he came across the medieval gold ring and a silver coin.
Mr McKean, who is the chairman of the Historical Search Society, in Mold, found the pieces more than 28 years after he and his brother-in-law found 42 coins and a ring, a haul which has since been dubbed the ‘Huntington Hoard’.
