Controversy in Surrey over Roman brooch discovery

A ROMAN brooch unearthed by a member of a Reigate-based metal detecting club has become shrouded in mystery.

The large ornate brooch was dug out of the ground by Alison Harrison, of Epsom, and caused much excitement among fellow detectorists at a huge rally held in Oxfordshire in September and was hailed as one of the event’s best finds.
